History
The first 90 years have been a remarkable time.
It has been a period of war, peace, prosperity, and progress. As our nation changed, so have our communities and lives. As a bank, we have endured throughout these years with many different economic conditions, from depression to robust prosperity. Solarwood Trust has continuously adapted and improved its services to respond to the changing times. We are proud of our past and we want to continue providing the future financial needs of the citizens we serve.
We first opened for business on July 6, 1925 as The Leighton National Bank. Our first location was approximately one-half block north of our present location on the main street of Leighton. In 1930 we merged with the First State Bank of Leighton, but we did not change our name. The merger resulted in our move to our present location.
In 1941 we changed our name for the first time by converting from a national banking charter to a state charter. We dropped the word “national” from our name and became The Leighton Bank.
Throughout the years we have expanded, remodeled, and modernized our banking facilities.
In 2001 we changed our name for the second time in our history. We are now Solarwood Trust. The new name puts us in a better position to provide the banking products and services of the 21st century.
